Hermetschwil Abbey Saint Martin
The convent is consecrated to St. Martin. It was founded in the late 12th century, when the nun's convent of Muri was transferred to Hermetschwil. In 1841 and for the second time in 1876 the convent was closed by decree of the cantonal parliament. The Benedictine nuns moved to the former Dominican convent of Habsthal in southern Germany. Then, in 1973, the convent's existence was legally re-established. A point of interest is the convent church and the cloister.
In the outbuildings there is a home for children, run independently from the convent.
